Installation Guide To PVC Panels

How To Install PVC Wall And Ceiling Panels

Whether you’re updating your kitchen countertops with a new kitchen splashback or renovating an entire bathroom with wall tiles, PVC wall panels are the perfect material for affordable home improvement projects.

The main advantage of choosing PVC wall tiles is how easy they are to manufacture and install. We’ve made that process even easier by simplifying everything you need to know in this handy guide.

As with any DIY project, before you buy the materials and start installing your new tile effect wall panels, you need to make sure you’ve measured your space correctly.

  • Start by measuring the height and width of the room you will be tiling. Kitchen splashbacks only require a small strip of PVC panel to be installed, whereas shower screen panels are typically floor-to-ceiling.
  •  You can easily calculate how many PVC wall panels you need for your splash wall by dividing the room’s width by the width of one panel. Let’s say the wall diameter is 2000mm and each tile is 200mm wide. Exactly 10 PVC wall panels are required to span the wall (2000/200=10).
  •  If you are tiling the entire bathroom or interior walls, you will need to repeat this step for height and calculate the total number of tiles required to cover the space.
  • For the best finish, we recommend purchasing additional PVC profile edges and corners to keep the sides and corners of your PVC wall panels clean.
  • Most rooms won’t fit the exact number of PVC wall tiles but don’t worry. These wall panels are easy to cut with a carpet knife or hacksaw.

There are currently three types of PVC wall panels in widespread use, each with slightly different installation processes.

1. PVC Splashback panels

Installing a PVC splashback is the easiest process as there are no seams or grooves. Simply glue the panel in place.

  •  Start by attaching the PVC corner moulding to the left edge of the wall you are covering. These strips are easy to cut with a cutter or hacksaw.
  •  Then tape each panel to the wall and line them up exactly. Use a spirit level if necessary.
  •  For the most secure fit, we recommend placing a border of glue on the back of the PVC sheet and a few dots of glue in the middle as well.
  • Masking tape can be used to hold the PVC wall tile in place while it dries (at least 24 hours). Run a long piece of tape along the seams where the panels meet to make sure they line up.
  •  Simply repeat this process to install the second profile edge strip on the right edge of the mudguard and you’re done!
  •  If your splash guards meet at corners, be sure to purchase and use PVC corner strips. Simply glue these on and then slide the PVC wall tiles over the open ends.

2. Interlocking PVC Wall panels

Unlike typical splashbacks, interlocking panels “snap” so there are no seams between each tile. This is a feature of PVC wall panels in Piano Step and Ledgestone.

  • The process is about to begin. Attach the first profile edge strip to the wall with glue.
  •  Then you can start glueing the interlocking PVC wall tiles into place following the same pattern as before.
  •  Just remember to clip the different panels together by simply tucking in the interlocking sections. Use masking tape to hold it in place until the glue dries.

3. Tongue and Groove PVC Wall panels

The tongue-and-groove connection method is the most complicated of the three methods as it requires the opposite edges of the PVC wall tiles to mate properly.

  •  Follow the same process as before, but make sure the PVC wall panels are correctly aligned so that the “tongue” meets the “groove” of the adjacent tile. The parts can be easily snapped together and assembled before glueing.
  •  This connection can be made more secure by drilling screws in the area where the two PVC wall tiles meet. For a clean finish, measure all screws so they don’t go through the other side of the PVC panel.

Simple Guide Of Pvc Panel Installation

PVC multifunctional wall panels can be used in many areas. Such as a shower room, full bathroom, bedroom, living room, and other places. Below is a simple installation guide.

  1. First, measure the wall from floor to ceiling.
  2. Then trim the inside corners and use a tape measure to mark and transfer the measurements.
  3. Then cut the line to be measured with a multi-tool.
  4. Use a power drill and one expansion screw to drill a hole at the end of the decorative piece. In particular, the expansion bolts are spaced at 300-mm intervals.
  5. Measure from the floor to the ceiling and use a pencil to transfer the measurements to the panel.
  6. Once this process is complete, use a straightedge to mark the width of the straight line that will cut the panel.
  7. Next, carefully cut the panel with a fine hand saw.
  8. Next, use a Stanley knife to trim the narrow side of the first panel to fit the wall perfectly.
  9. Apply silica gel to the back side of the plate-like an “s” to the left and right. Or, if your walls are uneven, apply glue in small dots on either side of the length of the panel.
  10. Stick the panel to the wall and slide it into your room or entryway decor.
  11. Next, use a drill to tighten the countersunk screw into the tang of the plate.

Walk along the wall and perform this manipulation with the remaining panels. However, do not cut all the way through the tongue-and-groove section of the remaining panel. Install corners inside or end caps to complete the wall.

  1. Once the panel is in place, measure the length of the 5mm section left at the edge of the wall for decoration.
  2. Transfer this measurement to your interior design or refine it.
  3. First, cut the inner lining or end cap to size. Secure with screws as in step 3.

Cut-Outs of PVC Panels

It may be necessary to make cutouts in PVC wall tiles for electrical outlets, light switches, and other items to protrude from the wall.

  • First, measure the location of your wall outlet or switch.
  • Align this to the PVC wall panel and mark the outline where the socket will be placed.
  • Simply cut along the guides with a Stanley knife and remove excess PVC.
  • To avoid warping, apply extra glue to the edge of the cutout before glueing the newly modified PVC panel to the wall.

Tools And Materials Needed For Installing Pvc Panels

  • Tape measure
  • Spirit level
  • Fine saw or Stanley knife
  • Silicone sealants and special adhesives for PVC panels
  • Panel glue
  • 14mm long stainless steel staples or stainless nails/screws.
  • staple gun, hammer, screwdriver
  • Mitre block

1. Start at the ceiling

Measure your slabs carefully before cutting.

2. Cut the panel to the correct length using a sharp Stanley knife or fine saw.

Our panels are quick and easy to cut to length.

3. Apply a liberal amount of adhesive to the back of the panel.

We recommend using top-gun glue

 4. If using slats over the surface, screw, staple, or pierce the tongue of the slab every 12 inches.

No wall anchors are required. Repeat this process for the remaining ceiling tiles. A tongue and groove system allows each panel to be neatly inserted into each other.

5. Next, measure the baseboard around the bath and shower tray.

Measure from the corner of the tub to the edge on each side.

 6. Cut the cladding weatherstrip to the correct length and use a mitre block to cut the corner angles.

Cladding weather strips provide a waterproof seal between your panel and your bathtub or shower tub. Put the strip in place and make sure it is properly applied. Use an alcohol wipe to wipe the surface of the bath where the strip will be placed.

7. Apply CladSeal adhesive to the underside of the plated weatherstrip and smooth it out with a spatula.

A special adhesive is used in the laminated sealing strips to ensure waterproofness.

8. Apply the CladSeal adhesive along the surface and walls of the bath.

9. The strip is then applied to the surface of the bath allowing the silicone of the strip to bond with the silicone of the bath to form a watertight seal.

At this point, you can also seal the corners where the two strips meet. You can use screws to attach the bar to the wall and keep it from moving.

10. Install the integral inner corner beads before installing the wall panels. Peel off the protective film, apply silicone, and stick it on the corner of the wall.

Inside corner beads are used to join two panels when they meet inside corners.

11. Place the first panel

  • Measure from where you want the panel to be on the ceiling and cut the panel to the correct length.
  • Remove the protective film and apply adhesive to the back of the panel. Apply adhesive to the back of the panel before placing the panel.
  • If your walls are uneven, you can use extra glue to flatten this out. For very uneven and wet surfaces, we recommend using antiseptic slats. These should be 25-40 cm apart, fixed horizontally, and the panels mounted vertically.
  • Use a spirit level to ensure the battens are flat and level. Panels can be secured to the battens with panel tongues using non-corrosive nails, screws, or staples.
  • Apply silicone to the groove of the inside corner bead and insert the first panel watertight.

12. If the walls are uneven, make sure the board is straight, then thread a staple gun, pin, or screw through the tabs on the batten if necessary.

In most cases, the adhesive will hold these panels in place, but if your walls are uneven, you may need to screw the panels onto the battens.

13. Apply a liberal amount of adhesive to the back of each panel before assembly.

Any silicone spills on the surface of the plate should be wiped off immediately with a damp cloth.

14. Apply silicone to the groove of the first panel before sliding the second panel to seal.

Any silicone spills on the surface of the plate should be wiped off immediately with a damp cloth.

Panels can be glued directly to existing solid, clean, and dry substrates. B. Gypsum board, plywood, tile, paint, etc.

15. Repeat this process for the remaining walls.

16. The easiest way to install a one-piece coving is to remove the lip from the underside with a Stanley knife.

Carefully measure the strips before cutting them to the correct length and use metering blocks for the corners. Make sure the corners are tight before applying glue.

Coving can be taped directly to walls and ceilings using a combination of silicone and double-sided tape.

Here are the top 10 pro tips and tricks for a great installation.

1. Using the stud finder

If you are installing the Wall&CeilingBoard or SlatWall in drywall, use the stud finder to locate the studs and mark the drywall stud locations for quick and easy panel installation.

2. Use of silicone sealant

For areas requiring more than 10 feet of continuous trim, silicone sealant should be placed between the two pieces to keep the trim close together.

3. Spacer trims

Trim strips must be bolted to the board at least once every 24 inches and at least 4 inches from the edge of the panel.

4. Create a gap

When installing wall and ceiling panels, be sure to leave a ¼ inch gap at the edge of the wall for expansion.

5. Use of silicone seals

To create a waterproof seal around door and window openings, apply a small bead of silicone sealant to the channel openings in the moulding before installing the panel.

6. Vertical installation of panels in wet rooms

Installed in a damp environment or washed frequently? If possible, install panels vertically instead of horizontally so that water can drain without becoming trapped. Place a bead of silicone on the seam if horizontal mounting is required.

7. Using a level

Speed up the installation of SlatWalls and Wall&CeilingBoards by using a spirit level to perfectly straighten the first few panels or slats and use that as a guide for the next panel.

8. Install the ceiling plate at right angles

When installing ceiling tiles, install them perpendicular to the roof trusses, ceiling joists, or straps.

9. Cutting the moulded product

If you need to trim the trim to fit, a tin snip is a clean, easy-to-cut friend. Avoid closing the blade at the end of the stroke.

10. With a circular saw blade

A reverse-mounted fine-tooth circular saw blade is a surefire way to get cleaner cuts on big jobs.

How Do You Install Pvc Ceiling Panels?

PVC ceiling panels are impervious to water and moisture. Ensure adequate ventilation during and for some time after installation. Starline panels should not be exposed to direct sunlight prior to glueing (which causes heat distortion). Also, do not bond at temperatures above 35ºC or below 5ºC.

If possible, it is recommended that the panel be installed so that the tongue and groove joints are aligned with each window in the interior and is at a 90° angle to the window.

If installing ceiling panels only, measure each individual panel so that it overlaps the back of the already installed two-piece trim, but is 3-4 mm away from the section of trim that runs along the wall. When installing wall and ceiling panels, measure each panel 3 to 4 mm from each wall. For ceiling applications, there is no need to use silicone or adhesives between panels at tongue and groove joints.

How Do You Paste Pvc Panel On Wall?

Installing PVC panels on the wall is easy. To get started, you’ll need basic materials such as a PVC sheet, glue suitable for PVC, a caulking gun, and a spirit level.

First, you need to make sure the wall you’re installing the panel on is properly prepared. Make sure it is clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, and other debris.

Next, measure the PVC sheet and cut it to the required size. It’s important to use a sharp utility knife or craft knife to ensure a clean and precise cut at all times. Once you’ve properly measured and cut your panel, you can start installing it on the wall.

A PVC-compatible adhesive must be applied to the back of the panel. A caulking gun is a great tool for this as it ensures an even and firm application. Then gently press the plate against the wall to make sure it’s level. This can be done using a spirit level to make sure everything is straight.

Now all you have to do is wait for the glue to dry completely. Depending on the products used, this usually takes several hours. Once everything is dry, the PVC sheets are safe and can be enjoyed for many years.
